Riverside Walk extends westwards from Discovery Point towards the Tay Rail Bridge and on to the Riverside Nature Park, passing the University of Dundee Botanic Gardens.

It's a completely flat route which is also part of the National Cycle Network (route 77) and the Green Circular cycleway. Up to 3miles long and traffic-free with three road crossings.

The Riverside Walk route includes:

 

Tay Rail Bridge: With the current bridge dating from 1887, it sits alongside the route of the ill fated 1878 bridge. A nearby memorial depicts the tragedy when the first bridge collapsed in a storm less than a year after construction

Magdalen Green: with an excellent playpark near the landfall of the Tay Rail Bridge

Dundee Airport.

University Of Dundee Botanic Garden: (entry fee applies) An extensive garden with over 9 acres of plants and trees from around the world including glasshouses. A coffee shop is also available adjacent to the entrance. Website

Riverside Nature Park: a parkland reclaimed from a landfill site which is home to around 130 different species of birds

Nature: In addition to the Nature Park, The River Tay is well known for its wildlife and is a site of special scientific interest. Along this walk you can expect to see a variety of birdlife as well as sightings of seals and occasionally dolphins. ( Inner Tay Estuary Leaflet )

It is possible to extend the route further to enter the village of Invergowrie which has a small foodstore, a coffee shop, pub and other walk opportunities. Riverside Walk is also part of the Dundee Green Circular Cycle route which encircles the city and also part of the National Cycle Network that links Dundee and Perth.
